    Moving Tips and FAQ

    • Packing: If it fits in a box, pack it up! We HIGHLY recommend starting this process several weeks in advance of your move. Dishes should be stacked neatly inside a box with a layer of cardboard, bubble wrap, foam, or paper in between each item. Individually wrap glasses and mugs in packing paper, and always remember to put the heaviest items on the bottom. Clothes can remain on hangers and loaded into wardrobe boxes, or secure them inside large plastic bags to keep them clean during the move. If you're not sure about the best method to wrap or pack an item, just ask and we're happy to help! Of course if you've hired us to pack, you can skip this step altogether :)
    • Labels: Clearly label each box with a marker and explain your labeling system to your movers.
    • Appliances: If your refrigerator is moving with you, make sure to empty, clean, and defrost it at least 24 hours before moving day. If you're not comfortable unhooking the refrigerator or washer/dryer, we are happy to handle that for you. It is best to clean all appliances before movers arrive.
    • TVs: If you still have the original box, pack it up. If you don't, no worries. We can wrap TVs in moving blankets for safe transport or supply a generic tv/picture box.
    • Framed Pictures/Artwork: Like TVs, these items can be boxed up or we can wrap with moving blankets for safe transport. 
    • Dressers: Remove any fragile or breakable items, but clothing and other similar items can stay in the drawers during the move.
    • Be available on moving day: This one seems obvious, but you'd be amazed at how many people disappear while their movers are working. It's not that we require supervision, but it's common for movers to occasionally need direction about where to place a piece of furniture. We want to work quickly so that you save money, so it's helpful to have somebody nearby, especially during the unload.

    • Do you work in the rain/snow?  We certainly do. If weather conditions are poor we will go the extra mile to make sure your belongings are covered and your home's floors remain clean and dry.
    • Do you require a deposit?  Yes. For moves that are estimated to be 5 hours or less the deposit will be $75. Jobs estimated to go beyond 5 hours will require a deposit of 20% (of estimated total). The deposit is applied to the total/final cost of your move, and the remaining balance is due when the job is complete.
    • What payment methods do you accept?  Check or cash is preferred. If you would like to pay using a credit card please notify us in advance (may be subject to a 3% fee).
    • What happens if my plans change and I need to cancel my move?  As long as we receive at least a 72 hour notice you can change the move date or cancel altogether without forfeiting your deposit.
    • When does the clock start/stop for my move?  The clock starts when your movers arrive at the first address and begin the walkthrough, and ends after the truck has been unloaded and everything has been placed in your home to your satisfaction.
    • Do you have an hourly minimum?  Yes, we have a 2 hour minimum.
    • Can you move my workout equipment?  Absolutely. However, we do not currently offer assembly/disassembly services.
    • What about my pool table?  Yes. However, we do not currently offer assembly/disassembly services.
    • Can you move my riding mower or ATV?  Yes, but we do require advance notice of such items as they usually require a truck/trailer with a wide ramp or lift gate.
    • Do you move pianos and gun safes?  We do move these items for an additional charge. However, we do not move grand/baby grand pianos or gun safes over 600 pounds. If there are a large number of stairs involved we may decline to move them altogether, simply for the safety of our workers.
    • My move is complicated. I have three pieces going to my brother's house, a sofa going to my friend across town, and half of my stuff is going into a storage building at my new apartment complex. Is this ok? Absolutely, we handle complex moves all the time. We just ask that you provide this information up front so that you receive a proper estimate and your belongings are loaded in the correct order on moving day.
